NEW BABY ALERT: Kimora Lee Simmons and Djimon Hounsou Welcome Baby Boy!

NEW BABY ALERT: Kimora Lee Simmons and Djimon Hounsou Welcome Baby Boy!

Kimora Lee Simmons and Djimon Hounsou welcomed a boy on Saturday morning, May 30, 2009.  How do we know this?  Well, in addition to the official word given to E! Online by Kimora’s rep, we have Kimora’s tweets from the birthing room!  The Phat Fashions CEO and star of E!’s reality show, Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane, kept active on Twitter during labor, even sending along a TwitPic.  She wrote, “Having contractions now! Ooo-wee!  It’s like WHOA!  Love & Light, KLS.”   This is the first boy for Kimora, who has two daughters with Russell Simmons – Ming Lee, 9, and Aoki Lee, 6.   For Djimon, the twice Oscar-nominated actor, this is his first child.  The two new parents have been together since March 2007.

Can we expect a Tweet from Kimora with the baby’s name?  Seems likely!  Until then, what do know about this baby’s parents’ and sisters' names?  In U.S. name rankings, Djimon has never been in the top 1000.  Kimora first entered in 2004 at 803 and by 2008 reached 291 – surely due in no small part to the rise of this particular Kimora!  Ming and Aoki have yet to break the top 1000, and their names may or may not provide naming clues – you never know, Kimora and Russell might do naming quite differently than Kimora and Djimon – but just in case… Ming comes from the Chinese for “shining, bright, clear” or “engrave;” and Aoki in Japanese means “green tree.”

Might Kimora continue to be influenced by her Asian heritage in the baby naming department?  What could Kyoko and Vernon, Kimora’s parents, be rooting for in Kimora’s hometown of St. Louis, MO?  And then there’s Djimon’s input.  He was born to Albertine and Pierre in Cotonou, Benin before moving to Paris and then to the U.S.  Are there any names from Cotonou or Paris that he adores?  Or maybe life in wacky-baby-naming-L.A. will inspire Kimora and Djimon?

We predict that though they'll choose a name beyond the most popular 1000, before long that boy's name will be climbing the ranks!  Let's hope Kimora Tweets us soon!
