New Baby Alert: Ione Skye and Ben Lee Welcome Goldie Priya
Australian indie rocker Ben Lee announced the birth of his daughter Goldie Priya Lee on his Web site this week. Goldie's mom is English-born American actress Ione Skye. Goldie, who was born September 24, 2009, is the first child for the couple together; Ione Skye has a daughter Kate from a previous relationship. Ben and Ione were both born into Jewish families, though they wed in a Hindu ceremony late in 2008. We're guessing that Goldie - a typically Jewish name which was popular in the late 1800s and early 1900s - is a family name or at least a nod to the family's Jewish heritage, while Priya, which is Sanskrit for "beloved" is a tribute to the couple's Hindu leanings.
How do you think the new parents did in picking a baby name that crosses cultures and continents? What do you think of the name Goldie? Is it due for a resurgence?

I love the name Goldie, Goldie Lee however, I'm not sure about, too repetitive for me. I think Golda might have been better or Golde (pron. the same as Golda I believe, or at least that's how I pronounce it) and Priya (PRIY-ah or PREE-uh or pree-AH or something else?) I like the way it looks, but can't pronounce it.

I like Goldie, and I love Priya, but I don't like them together. There's no internal flow; it sounds very choppy.
Love this actress! Say anything is one of my favorite movies! I like the baby's name for being different yet not "rididculously unusual" but I also agree that the flow could be better. Goldie Priya Lee has too many EE sounds for me.
