Karolina Kurkova, best known as one of the Victoria's Secret Angels welcomed her first child, a son,  on Thursday October 29, 2009.  Karolina and fiance, film producer Archie Drury named their baby boy Tobin Jack, according to PEOPLE.

The name Tobin was briefly popular in the middle of the 20th Century, reaching its peak of popularity in the 1970s when it hit number 806 on the Social Security Administration's list of most popular baby names, but it quickly fell off the charts, which may be why it sounds fresher today than many of its mid-century cohort (think Keith or Greg). It also helps that the name Tobin plays into some of the hottest trends in baby names today: it's a typical Irish surname, a traditional variant of teh antique Tobias, and ends in the letter "n" (currently over a third of all boys born in the U.S. have names ending in the letter "n", accoridng to BabyNameWizard.com).

So, could the celebrity factor push Tobin back into the spotlight? What do you think? Should we expect more little Tobins in the months and years ahead?

I like the name Tobin - I was thinking about it recently, after hearing it on episodes of 'Star Trek: DS9'.

Though I don't know if I can get over the point that it splits into the sounds "Toe Bin" - as in trash can. So that makes it sound a little icky, conjuring up the image of stinky feet and trash.

I can definitely see it rising in popularity though.

I think of Tobin Sprout, of Guided by Voices fame.

I def. think this name could rise. It's a cute way to get to the nickname Toby, too.

I had no idea that over a third of all boys born in the U.S. have names ending in the letter "n"!
