New Baby Alert: A boy named Emmett Andrew for Sarah Jane Morris
Sarah Jane Morris and Ned Brower welcomed their son Emmett Andrew Brower, according to PEOPLE.
Let's dispense with the obvious: it's a Twilight name. But does that make it unusable? Not necessarily. For one thing, the movies won't be so visible in a few years. In "Has Twilight Ruined My Favorite Baby Names?", our own Name Lady wrote,"Yes, you'll have to live with the vampire jokes for a while, but your kids should ultimately emerge unscathed." And if a name is worth the risk, it might be Emmett which, along with Jasper and Esme, "are favorites of cutting-edge parents."
Indeed, Emmett, which first peaked in the 1890s, has risen quickly in the past few years, and stands poised to crack the top-500 when the 2009 numbers are released.
Emmett Brower may be our first celebrity baby to bear the name, but Emmett Cullen is not our first movie crush to do so. In Legally Blonde, Luke Wilson was a hunky Emmett Richmond to Reese Witherspoon's Elle Woods. And who can forget Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown in Back to the Future?
What do you think of Emmett?

LOVE Emmett! It's a family name in my DH's family, but he doesn't go for it.
It is Alright but i think that Names Like emmett, or Carlisle (which i like) is old Fashoined, Even Edward (old Fashioned)
I really like Emmett. And since the character isn't one of the more popular characters I think that it would only be fans of the book who would recognize the connection. Emmett Alexander is a great name!
I know Emmett is moving up in the ranks but, personally, it doesn't appeal to me. It sounds too abrupt and reminds me of Kermit. I like Everett though.
I am due any day and have loved the name Emmett for years. Decided to find out this time (a boy!) and use the name... I don't watch Twilight and never seen Legally Blonde, but hope people don't judge names by fictional characters! =)
