Inspired by the Indy 500? Model Josie Maran Names New Baby Girl Indi Joon
Fame/Flynet

Model and actress Josie Maran gave birth to a baby girl earlier this week, her second daughter with husband Ali Alborzi. They named the little girl Indi Joon, who joins big sister Rumi Joon. We were given a good hint as to what inspired the name when Maran tweeted a photo with the name on a license plate.

As a self described racing enthusiast (Maran starred in the video game Need For Speed Most Wanted), it's safe to assume that Indi is inspired by the famous Indianapolis 500-Mile Race, or Indy 500. Indi and Rumi make an interesting sibset, both with two syllables and the same -i ending.

We love the idea of a name inspired by auto racing. Here are five of our favorites:

  • Daytona - After the Daytona 500 race in Daytona Beach, FL
  • Harley - Harley may be more associated with motorcycles, but the Harley J. Earl Trophy, named for influential automobile designer, goes to the winner of the Daytona 500
  • Danica - Danica Patrick was the first and only woman to win the IndyCar series
  • Enzo - From Italian race car driver and founder of Ferrari cars, Enzo Ferrari
  • Torque - We're no physics expert, but you can't have a race without acceleration

What do you think of the name Indi? What about Indi and Rumi as a sibset? What other racing inspired names do you like?
