Place Your Bets! Maxwell's Little Sib Will Be … ?
After some weeks of speculation, Jessica Simpson gave a Christmas-day confirmation: she is expecting a second child with fiancé Eric Johnson. Simpson validated the rumor by tweeting a photo of daughter Maxwell sitting in holiday PJs next to the worlds "Big Sis" written in sand.
It has only been seven months since Simpson gave birth to a baby girl and got the baby name junkies talking by naming her Maxwell Drew. She certainly surprised us; we were betting on a girly name! (Some of our commenters did predict Max/Maxwell if Simpson had a boy.)
Now Maxwell has a little sibling on the way so it's time to shake off the tinsel and eggnog, roll up our sleeves, and make some new predictions.
Maxwell is Johnson's middle name and his grandmother's maiden name, and Drew is the maiden name of Simpson's mother, Tina. Since both of these names are family names, shaking the branches of the baby's family tree seems like a good place to start.
Ann - Ann is Simpson's middle name and the middle name of her mother. It's a classic, but has fallen from favor in recent decades (it ranked at #911 in 2011). Is the family tie strong enough to overcome a relatively plain name?
True/Truett - Truett is the middle name of Simpson's dad, Joe. It has the same surname roots as Maxwell and the same off-the-beaten-path, but not off-the-wall feel. True isn't unheard of for celebrity babies either. Meg Ryan has a daughter named Daisy True, Forrest Whitaker has a daughter named True and Kirstie Alley has a son who is known by his middle name, True.
Nicole - This is Ashlee Simpson's middle name and could be a nice tribute to the sisters' relationship. Like Ann, it had diminished in popularity, dropping from #8 in the 80s to #116 in 2011. Among celebrities, it is more common as a middle name.
Hmm. True/Truett seems like a contender, but Ann and Nicole are probably a little too commonplace for Maxwell's sibling. Despite our vast resources, we don't have access to all of the family info for the Simpson and Johnson families. We wonder, though, if they are facing the same problem as this Name Lady reader. Perhaps they used up all of the "good" family names on the first baby! If that's the case, the Name Lady has some suggestions for coming up with other meaningful names.

I love Truett, maybe Truett Nicole for a girl but Truett could really go either way. I also love Emerson if they go in a different direction and Anderson could be a cool girl name too with the nickname Andie.
Wonder if they will want to incorporate an X since both Bronx and Maxwell have one. Rex, Dixon, or Xander for a boy maybe. Alix for a girl .

I'm betting for a Boy that it's Olivia Claire. I know that's not any of your choices, but based on her completely masculine for a little girl I gotta assume to flip it for a boy.
