Sir Elton John Welcomes Second Son Named Elijah Joseph Daniel
Sir Elton John and David Furnish welcomed a new baby in to their lives last week, with the birth of son Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John. He was born to the same surrogate as John's and Furnish's first son, Zachary Jackson Levon.
Elijah is a great name to pair with Zachary. Both are old, old names derived from Hebrew. In recent years Elijah has skyrocketed in popularity and is currently ranked No. 13. With its current upward trend, we wouldn't be surprised to see it in the top 10 next year. The name is popular with musicians as well - Bono has a son named Elijah, and Jimi Westbrook and Karen Fairchild named their son Elijah in 2010.
The couple seems to favor popular names, with all excepting Levon appearing in the top 100. No word yet on what the two middle names Joseph and Daniel, might mean, if anything. However, Zachary's third name, Levon, was a personal choice as a reference to John's 1971 song of the same name.
John's own name is a reference to two musicians. He changed it from Reginald Kenneth Dwight to Elton John in 1967 as an homage to Saxophonist Elton Dean and blues singer Long John Baldry.
What do you think of Elijah and Zachary as a sibset? Do you think Elijah will make it in to the top 10 next year?
