New Baby Alert! Singer Kara DioGuardi Welcomes Son Greyson James Carroll
Singer-songwriter and former American Idol judge, Kara DioGuardi, welcomed a son with husband Mike McCuddy, last week reports PEOPLE. This is the first child for the couple, who named him Greyson James Carroll McCuddy.
Greyson is a trendy pick for the couple. The name has skyrocketed in popularity over the past several years, now ranked at No. 200 with no end to its trajectory in sight. The alternate spelling, Grayson, is even more popular at No. 97, with a similar spike originating in the 1980s and climbing fast over the past decade.
The trendy up-and-comer Greyson fits nicely with the traditional middle name James. The second middle name, Carroll, is in honor of DioGuardi's late mother, Carol, who passed away in 1997. We like the idea of changing the spelling, which can also serve as a male version of the name and it also shows that it's possible to honor a relative with a name choice even if the gender's don't match up.
