These are hilarious! Why anyone would want to be called "Fred" I'll never know. We had a landlady once whose name was Sharon, but she wanted to be called Freddie because she liked the name! Crazy!

Winifred "Fred" Burkle is the name of one of the most awesome characters in the Whedon-verse (specifically "Angel").

I love the name Fred and Freddie! For a boy named Frederick or a girl named Frederica or Winifred.

Winifred is a beloved character in the Whedon-verse, so lots of geeks will like it, which is a plus in my view.

Fred/Freddie is a perfectly fine nickname for a boy or girl. And Winifred/Fred has a very retro feel to it that I like.
