Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick welcomed their son this morning: Mason Dash! E! News and Life & Style jointly report the birth. What do you think? Read on for some info on the names and to let us know how you like it.

Dash, the baby's middle name, is also the name of the Kardashian's boutique. It's sometimes a nickname for Dashiell. (You may also recognize it as the name of one of the young Incredibles).

Mason was the 35th most popular name in the US in 2008, and also in the top-100 in England, Austraiia, Scotland and Canada.  Laura Wattenberg comments in The Baby Name Wizard: "Here's a rare find: a handsome tradesman name that doesn't end in -er. That makes Mason a perfect brother for Cooper, Tucker, or Spencer." Interestingly, the name is especially popular where it's cold: #4 in Wisconsin and Vermont, #2 in South Dakota, and #15 in Saskatchewan. Click here for more details. It has quite a few sounds in common with another recent celebrity baby Kayden Cash. A new trend for Hollywood babies?

Maybe for her baby's middle name, Kourtney just looked to the middle of her own name: kar -DASH -ian. There's a bizarrely satisfying symmetry in that.
