Johnny Knoxville Names Baby Boy Rocko Akira

Johnny Knoxville, best known as the creator and star of MTV's Jackass, welcomed a baby boy on Sunday December 20, 2009.  The baby's mother is Knoxville's girlfriend Naomi Nelson. Knoxville and Nelson have named their son Rocko Akira Clapp.  (Johnny Knoxville is a stage name; the actor/daredevil's real name is Phillip John Clapp; he was born in Knoxville, Tennessee).

Rocko Akira is a much bolder baby name choice than Madison, the name of Knoxville's 13-year-old daughter from his prior marriage.

We rarely see Rocko as a given name. Rocco with two C's is a classic Italian name loaded with macho swagger; by changing the spelling to CK, Knoxville has upped the macho quotient.  This variant spelling feels like Rocky + Socko and has more akin with names like Spike than, well, Rocco.

Akira is a popular and timeless Japanese name, best known in America as the name of the 1980s-era anime series and film.  Like Rocco, it's got a masculine, international appeal.

What do you think of the name Rocko Akira? Is it the perfect name for the son of a daredevil with a sense of humor?

Do you think it makes a good sibling set with Madison? (It's interesting to note how Hollywood's half-siblings often have such different name styles.) Can you think of other sibling pairs like Rocko and Madison that don't at first seem like a "match"?
