New Baby Alert: Ava Reese Biermann

Andrea Roth, who plays Dennis Leary's wife on the television series Rescue Me and her real-life fiance Todd Bierman welcomed their first child earlier this week.  The baby girl is named Ava Reese Biermann

As name enthusiasts know, the name Ava is a super-hot name for girls in the U.S. today, currently ranking #5 on the popularity charts, an extraordinary feat for a name that didn't even make the top-1000 in the 1980s.

The name Reese, which is an anglicized version of the traditionally male Welsh name Rhys has also surged in popularity as name for girls in recent years.  Before 1990 the name Reese never appeared on the charts for girls, but it reached #150 by 2007, no doubt driven by the popularity of the actress Reese Witherspoon, who, oddly enough, has a daughter named Ava.

Which begs the question, is there such a thing as Six Degrees of Baby Name Separation?

Wow - that is pretty unoriginal. Maybe I'll name my next child Kingston Gavin or maybe Honor Jessica. On second thought... not a chance.

I seriously doubt they were thinking of Reese Witherspoon and her daughter when they named their daughter. I like the name Ava, but it is way too popular to actually use it. Reese I like better as a boy's name. Although, when I look at it visually I think of peanut butter candy, and again, would probably not use it.

I think that is a very pretty name! Not too strange like some of the other celebs, for example, Apple, c'mon!?

I think that name will stand the test of time and not just a current fad!

Has anyone noticed that the given names together sound like another word for greed - "avarice"?
