Celebrities and Popular Baby Names

This morning the Social Security Administration announced the most popular names for babies born in 2009. (see http://www.babynamewizard.com/blog for the latest data-crunching and statistics on hottest names, fastest risers and fallers and more). Isabella and Jacob top the charts, as we wrote earlier today. (And yes, Baby Name Wizard Laura Wattenberg called Isabella's ascension back in January.)

Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman were famous baby name trendsetters back in 1994 when they named their daughter Isabella. Isabella had only recently broken the top-1000 names in America that year. Now our celebrity names database lists 12 celebrity babies named Isabella (not to mention three Isabels and five Isabelles).

So how do this year's most popular names stack up against popular celebrity baby names? Here is the list of the most popular names in America this year, followed by the number of celebrity babies we have listed in our celebrity baby names database who share that name.

I found it sorta odd that there are no celebrity children named Abigail. I wonder why. For the record Abigail is one of my favorite names.
