What Would MatchMaker Name Matt Damon's Baby?

What Would MatchMaker Name Matt Damon's Baby?
RAM/Fame Pictures

Yesterday we announced that Matt Damon and Luciana Barroso are expecting girl number four (to join AlexiaIsabella and Gia), and offered some thoughts about names they might choose next. Today, we're tackling the same question from a snazzy new angle: we're taking the new Baby Name Wizard Name MatchMaker tool for a spin.

Damon and Barroso have a distinct style: the names are pretty, popular (or getting that way), and have a Latin feel (which makes sense: Barroso comes from Argentina). We put them into MatchMaker and tailored the preferences, requesting names that tended toward the popular (Isabella, after all, was the number one girl's name in the US last year) and favoring those of Latin origin. So what did MatchMaker suggest?

  1. Adriana
  2. Liliana
  3. Mariana
  4. Valeria
  5. Luciana   (mom's name!)
  6. Camila
  7. Natalia
  8. Viviana
  9. Bianca
  10. Gabriela
  11. Elena
  12. Emilia
  13. Esmeralda
  14. Eliana
  15. Amaya
  16. Selena
  17. Carolina

Just to see what would happen, we put in Gia by itself. A few of the dark horse contenders that resulted: CatalinaLuz, and Brisa

MatchMaker, part of the new suite of expert name tools by Name Candy and Baby Name Wizard founder Laura Wattenberg, learns about your naming style by asking you for input, and suggests names you might like. Unlike other name suggesters, MatchMaker analyzes names for a dizzying array of factors including current and past popularity, origin, formality, spelling and length, as well as more subtle and subjective factors like cultural reference points or "naming style," that often determine what names seem to go together.

Wondering where all this data comes from? From the thousands of users who have contributed to Namipedia over the years. The result is a list of suggestions tailored to your exact style. (Watch a video demonstration of MatchMaker in action.)

What do you think of MatchMaker's picks for Damon and Barroso? Which ones do you think might be "the name"?

I think Elena, or Selena might work nicely with the 3 other sisters names.
Another name that might work is Daniela, and she could be called Dani for short.

Liliana seems like the winner to me - Lily being a popular celeb baby name, and Liliana having that sweet Latin flavor they seem to like, without repeating the first initial of the previous children.

Liliana, Natalia, and Emelia are pretty.....I hope they branch out a little, maybe go with Amelie. Or Celia. I cannot abide the name Adriana, but many people seem to like that harsh sound.

Four little girls......how adorable.

Elena or Eliana, I would suggest. Both can be shortened to Elle or Ellie, which are cute & feminine nicknames, but as full names they are lovely and sound sophisticated so I think they work well on both fronts! :)

Its like you read my mind! You seem to know so much about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you could do with some pics to drive the message home a bit, but other than that, this is great blog. A great read.
