Mark Ruffalo's Kids' Names Are All Right

Mark Ruffalo's Kids' Names Are All Right

Mark Ruffalo found out he'd been nominated for an Oscar while dropping his kids off for carpool. According to him, he didn't even know the nominations were about to be announced. He's quoted as explaining, "I was about five minutes from the school with a car full of kids. With so many kids, I didn't even realize it was today."

We're glad this story has been making the rounds today, because it gives us a chance to review Ruffalo's quirky, charming sibset: Keen, Bella and Odette.

The name fun starts with mom's name, Sunrise Coigney. Born Christina Sunrise Coigney, she's a French-American actress. Her French heritage is reflected in daughter Odette's Proustian name -- highly unusual in the US, but chic. Also unusual is the Ruffalo's son's name, Keen. (There were 13 born in the US last year.)

The popular Bella may seem the odd one out in this set of rarities, but consider her middle name, Noche. Bella Noche, Spanish for beautiful night, makes this pretty name a bit quirky for a US baby, but right at home in her sibset. (Bella was also chosen by David Boreanz and Jaime Bergman to replace the original name of their daughter, Bardot Vita.)

How does the Ruffalo's sibling set compare to other unusual celebrity sibling sets? We think it's less theme-y than Jamie Oliver's, less weird than those kids from 9 by Design. Nicely done, Ruffalos!

What do you think of Keen, Bella and Odette? What great sibsets have you heard lately?

I like that they all have 'e's and they also have doubled letters (ee, ll, and tt).

I like the names. They're not too out there. Most celebrities name their children the weirdest names but these are quite normal compared to the rest. Just the right amount of unique in them.
