The rumors were as spectacular as tonight’s Macy's 4th of July Fireworks display!

Ever since Victoria Beckham announced that she and hubby David Beckham are expecting their first daughter in early July, the buzz was that Baby Girl Beckham was scheduled to arrive on July 4th -- the couple’s 12th anniversary. Taking things a step further, there was talk that the Independence Day baby would get a very American name in tribute to the British couple adopted homeland. Then, earlier today, there were even reports that the baby had arrived -- with all the details down to her weight (5lbs., 8oz.).

But all the rumors were… duds.

“Contrary to certain reports, David and Victoria Beckham's baby is not due today and that was never the case,” David’s publicist, Simon Oliveira, tweeted earlier. Then a spokesperson for the couple chimed in, saying, “The rumors are rubbish, Victoria has not had the baby but she will be giving birth soon.”

So it’s unlikely that Victoria and David Beckham will have a little girl named America, Liberty, Justice, Freedom or any of the names appearing on the patriotic baby names lists. (See also Patriotic Celebrity Baby Names.) However, we wouldn’t completely rule out America -- in tribute to the country that the Beckhams have called home since David joined the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2007 -- because they did give their eldest son an American place name: Brooklyn!

Regardless, there’s a large chance that the name they do give to this little girl is going to give the name a boost. As we discussed in our post What Will The Beckhams Name Baby No. 4?, the names of their kids Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz have all seen substantial increases in popularity since entering the spotlight as a celebrity baby names. Though in the case of Brooklyn, it’s the female version of the name which has been on the rise and it currently sits at No. 34.

So while we wait a little bit longer for Baby Girl Beckham -- and the unveiling of her posh name -- we’ll leave you with these Name Candy posts discussing all things bébé Becks:

And here's what David had to say over the weekend about the baby's arrival. "We're really excited. You know, it's a whole new different thing for us. To have so much pink in the house, lilac in the house, and dresses... All the clothes [are] ready, the room's ready, so we're all ready for it and all excited."

Talk Back: Do you think the name David and Victoria pick will somehow honor the United States? How about paying tribute to their native England? Don't think it will be a place name at all? Speculate below.

I doubt they'll use an 'America' name for the purpose of the 4th of July, but I could see them using one of those names solely because it fit. I think Liberty would be very cute with Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz. Think of it- Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Liberty! How adorable!

Doesn't Victoria's sister have a daughter called Liberty though? I can't imagine her choosing the name of her niece!

I'm still thinking it'll be musical. Cadence or Sonnet perhaps.... Cadence Beckham has a nice ring to it!

Yep, Liberty is cute and has a great nn (Libby). I also love the old famous American ladies -- Betsy (for Betsy Ross), Abigail (for Abigail Adams), or if those are too ordinary, how about Georgianna - for G. Washington? But I think they'll go with a twist on an English classic. I could see Sierra, or Arabella, or Cecilia, or Genevieve.
