Stephen Barker Liles, best known as one half of the country western duo Love and Theft welcomed a baby boy December 2. The new baby is named Jett Barker Liles and  he is the first child for Stephen Barker Liles and his fiancee Jenna Kennedy.

The name Jett, which is derived from the word jet, was virtually unheard of before John Travolta and Kelly Preston named their now-deceased son Jett back in 1992, a tribute to dad's love of flying airplanes.  Since then, Jett has skyrocketed in popularity, most recently ranking at 331 on the Social Security Administration's list of most popular baby names.

Other high-flying celebrities who have named their sons Jett include George Lucas and Lisa Ling.

Whiel Jett Liles doesn't have any siblings yet, his dad tells Country Weekly that he does already have a best friend.  Camden William Gunderson, the 9-month-old son of Liles's musical partner, Eric Gunderson.

What do you think of the name Jett? Do Jett and Camden sound like names for pals?

I have a daughter named Jet!

I was never a fan of giving girls names that were traditionally for boys...and I named my daughter Juliet. But L's are hard for little brothers to say, so my son called her Jet from the time he could speak. She is now in high school and goes by the name Jet exclusively. She loves it. Her associations are more the stone jet (she dark sparking eyes) and Joan Jett of which she is a total fan.
