Jay Cutler and Kristin Cavallari Welcomed their second son, Jaxon Wyatt Cutler, on May 7th.  Just two short days later, the Social Security Administration released the list of 2013's most popular names, which let us dig a little deeper into the trends behind Jaxon.

At first glance, you might think that Jay and Kristin went against the popular tide with their choice of a boys' name ending in -n.  A quick look at the Expert Name Voyager on Baby Name Wizard shows that boys' names ending in -n actually peaked in 2010, and have been on a decline (albeit a small one) since that year.  A look deeper, however, proves this theory wrong.

Jaxon is one of the boys' names that, despite the overall decline in boy's names ending in -n, has continued to rise in popularity, rising from the 99th spot in 2010 to the 46th spot in 2013.  Interestingly enough, Jaxon's older brother Camden, born in 2012, also has a name ending in -n that has continued to rise in popularity since 2010, rising from 179th most popular in 2010 to 99th in 2013.

Jay and Kristin have clearly established a naming style -- names that follow a common trend (in this case, names ending in -n), but names that are still rising on the tail end of the trend.  While it's doubtful they would pick a name that defined the -n names trend like Aidan or Jayden, perhaps Weston, Nolan, or Braxton would rise to the top of their list should they ever have a third son.

Are you surprised to hear that names like Jaxon and Camden are still on the rise?  Are there other names ending in -n that you think are still rising in popularity?
