Nick & Vanessa Lachey Welcome Baby With Super Popular Name

New year, new Hollywood babies. On the heels of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds' baby reveal and Macklemore and his fiancee's oh-so-sweet pregnancy announcement, we're now learning that the Lachey family has grown by one because Nick and Vanessa Lachey have welcomed their baby girl! And her name? The adorably sweet and super trendy Brooklyn Elisabeth Lachey.

Mom Vanessa shared the news on her site and has already started gushing about her brand new addition:

She’s HERE!!!! Nick, Camden and I are SO excited to announce the birth of our sweet, beautiful baby girl, Brooklyn Elisabeth Lachey! She was born January 5th, 2015 at 5:17pm. She weighed in at 7 pounds 15 ounces, is 21 inches long and has already won over all of our hearts.

I have been dreaming of this moment for as long as I can remember, the day I was going to meet my little girl. A friend recently told me how magical today was going to be because it’s the day I would meet my best friend. I can’t even begin to tell you how it felt to hold her in my arms for the very first time. Mommy, Daddy and big brother Cam love you so much already, Brooklyn!

Clearly, the parents are hopping on the super popular trend. Brooklyn has been a top name for the past several years. It all started when Victoria and David Beckham gave the name to their oldest son. But lately, it's definitely taken a turn.

In 2013, it was the number 28th most popular name in America for girls, according to the Social Security Administration, but with one particular catch. Turns out, the name is one of the most highly given ones in virtually every single state except one: New York. Parents in the actual Brooklyn have yet to hop on the trend, but it hasn't stopped moms and dads all over the country from using the famous and quickly-rising moniker.

Now we have yet another Brooklyn to add to the list!

What do you think of the name?

I never liked it, but I'm from NYC so it seems odd to me to use the name of a borough.

I know someone who named her daughter Brooke Lynne.

I agree. Living just across the river I think of the borough first not as a first name. But it's their baby and they can name her as they wish. I know a family with the last name "Lynn" and they named their daughter Brook.

I'm not anywhere near NY and I think it's a terrible name. Sounds down market and kind of stripper-ish to me.
