Tyra Banks Welcomes a Baby With a Regal Name

Tyra Banks Baby Name

Congrats are in order for this new family! Tyra Banks just welcomed a baby son with boyfriend Erik Asla, and she shared a heartfelt message to all parents and would-be parents who have struggled with infertility.

The former supermodel announced York Banks Asla's arrival on Instagram, thanking the "angel of a woman" who carried him as their surrogate.

The 42-year-old first-time mama also added, "The best present we worked and prayed so hard for is finally here. He's got my fingers and big eyes and his daddy Erik's mouth and chin."

And he's got a great name too! York conjures up all sorts of images of nobility to me, like a duke from the English countryside. It's a solid name for a boy, and one he will be able to grow into as a man.

The new mom has been open about her struggles with infertility, and she told People magazine in a statement that the birth of her son via surrogate "was a beautiful bright light at the end of the tunnel for me and his father, Erik."

She continued, "As I gaze into the beautiful eyes of my son, I think about all the people who struggle with fertility or carrying a child and continue to pray for them every day. My hopes and dreams are filled with well wishes that they get to feel what my little treasure, York Banks Asla, feels like in my arms."

We couldn't be happier for Banks and Asla and their new little bundle. Congrats to the new family of three!
